Compassionate Support, Rooted in Understanding

Meet Dr. Renee Brush

Many of my clients come to therapy when daily life begins to feel overwhelming. They may feel anxious, down, or unsure of what’s wrong — only that something doesn’t feel right anymore. They might be struggling in relationships, feeling unmotivated, or hearing from others that they don’t seem like themselves. Whatever they are experiencing, they have chosen to take a step toward support, and I am honored to walk with them.

As a clinical psychologist, I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. I also provide psychological evaluations for individuals of all ages who need clarity and direction. In therapy, I help clients understand what they’re feeling and teach practical tools they can use in everyday life. We work together to apply these tools, reflect on them, and adjust as needed — always with compassion, respect, and without judgment.

More About Dr. Brush

Most people who are thinking about entering therapy have some concern about whether they will choose the right person to help them on their healing journey. You may also have people in your life who are dismissing your concerns or blaming you for your struggles — and you do not need more of that. What you want is someone who will accept and support you, who will validate your concerns, and who will offer guidance in a way that still respects your values and beliefs. Someone who will truly see and hear you. Someone who will be on your side, even while gently challenging you to grow.

I have always been the person others naturally turned to when they needed support. As I grew older, even strangers would often open up to me. I knew very young that I wanted to become a psychologist, although my path took several detours along the way. I believe those detours make me more relatable to my clients. I decided to become a therapist because I know what it feels like to want support and validation and not receive it. And I know what it is like to wonder, “What is wrong with me?” when life feels confusing or overwhelming. I love my work because I am able to hold space for my clients and help them understand themselves in ways that feel stabilizing and grounding, so that they can cope with their stressors more effectively.

I provide both therapy and psychological assessment services. My first doctoral degree was in Developmental Psychology, as I originally planned to become a professor. When that wasn’t possible in the location where I wanted to live, I spent several years working in retail before recognizing that becoming a clinical psychologist was truly my calling. Returning to graduate school allowed me to gain the clinical training I needed. My foundation in development greatly enhances my clinical work, especially with clients who have experienced trauma or disruptions in their early environments. Since becoming licensed, I have also completed additional training in Somatic Experiencing and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support deeper nervous system and trauma healing.

Outside of my professional life, I have an adult daughter who often joins me at concerts and music festivals. I also have two dogs who keep me busy and entertained. When I am able, I try to spend time at the beach or in the mountains — spaces that help me reconnect and restore.
